• In South Africa, the influenza detections decreased. Of the reported detections, the majority were influenza B
(Victoria lineage where determined) and A(H3N2) and only a few A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses. The influenza detection
rates in both ILI and pneumonia surveillance were low but above the epidemic threshold. There were few SARSCoV-2 or RSV detections, and the detection rate for RSV in children under five years of age remained below the
epidemic threshold.
