The Respiratory Datamart system is used as a sentinel laboratory surveillance tool,
monitoring all major respiratory viruses.
In week 1 of 2023, out of the 18,645 respiratory specimens reported through the
Respiratory DataMart System (based on data received from 16 out of 16 laboratories),
1,661 samples were positive for SARS-CoV-2 with an overall positivity of 7.7% which
decreased from 8.9% the previous week.
Influenza positivity decreased from 25.2% in week 52 to 12.2% in week 1, with highest
positivity seen in the 5 to 14 years age group at 17.0%. 919 samples tested positive for
influenza (274 flu A(H3), 27 flu A(H1N1)pdm09, 618 flu A(not subtyped) and 80 flu B).
