• In South-East Asia, detections of predominantly influenza B reported from Malaysia, remained elevated.
Detections remained low in the rest of the subregion. Influenza B/Victoria lineage viruses predominated in Lao
People’s Democratic Republic and the Philippines. Influenza A(H3N2) viruses predominated in Singapore and
Thailand.
• In Southern Asia, influenza activity remained at a low level, mainly due to decreased activity reported in Iran
(Islamic Republic of). In Afghanistan and Pakistan, increased detections of predominantly influenza
A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses were reported, ILI activity and influenza detections decreased in Nepal. Elsewhere,
detections of all subtypes were reported in low numbers.
