The Respiratory Datamart system is used as a sentinel laboratory surveillance tool,
monitoring all major respiratory viruses.
In week 49 of 2022, out of the 11,776 respiratory specimens reported through the
Respiratory DataMart System (12 out of 16 laboratories), 786 samples were positive for
SARS-CoV-2 with an overall positivity of 6.7% which increased from 5.2% the previous
week. The highest positivity was seen in the 65 year olds and over at 8.6%.
Influenza positivity increased from 16.2% in week 48 to 20.2% in week 49, with highest
positivity seen in those aged 5 to 14 years at 32.9%. 856 samples tested positive for
influenza (269 flu A(H3), 35 flu A(H1N1)pdm09, 525 flu A(not subtyped) and 27 flu B).
